Aluminum furniture and plastic parts are often coated on the same line. The two materials have different requirements for pretreatment and drying temperature, so the coating solution must accommodate both. Taizhou Yufeng Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. designs a mixed coating line for customers, setting differentiated processes for different materials.
Low-temperature process for plastic parts
Plastic parts have limited temperature resistance, and excessively high drying temperature causes deformation. After spraying, plastic parts are dried at low temperature, with temperature and time set according to material type. For special plastics, low-temperature curing paint can be selected. The drying tunnel is designed with zoned temperature control to meet the drying requirements of different products. Plastic pretreatment uses solvent cleaning or special cleaners to avoid surface damage.
Surface treatment of aluminum parts
Aluminum furniture surface treatment includes degreasing, oil removal and conversion coating to enhance adhesion. The oxide layer and oil on the aluminum surface must be removed, and the conversion coating provides a corrosion-resistant base. Aluminum parts and plastic parts are treated on separate lines or in separate batches to avoid cross contamination. Pretreatment baths are managed separately by material.
Coating and color change management
The spraying station switches guns and paint according to product material. During color change, the booth and pipes are cleaned to avoid color mixing. For furniture products with high color and gloss requirements, paint color matching and application parameters are standardized. After spraying, products are dried according to their own processes, and film thickness and appearance are inspected.
Quality testing
The mixed coating line includes film thickness, adhesion, gloss and solvent resistance tests. Plastic parts focus on adhesion, impact resistance and temperature resistance. Aluminum parts focus on corrosion and abrasion resistance. Test data is bound to the product number to form a quality file.
Line planning
When planning a mixed coating line, provide the product material, proportion, size, output, paint type and drying requirements. We design the pretreatment, spraying, drying and inspection stations considering the process differences of both materials, and provide a complete proposal and investment estimate.
