Pretreatment process structure

The pretreatment line consists of pre-degreasing, degreasing, rinsing, surface conditioning, phosphating or zirconium treatment, passivation rinsing and other steps. Degreasing removes oil from the workpiece surface, rinsing removes residual chemicals, and phosphating or zirconium treatment forms a conversion coating to enhance adhesion. For aluminum parts, a corresponding pretreatment flow is used. Bath temperature, concentration and spray pressure are controlled by process parameters.

Bath management and circulation

Pretreatment quality stability depends on bath management. The system is equipped with bath circulation, filtration and heating devices, and the baths are analyzed and replenished regularly. Rinse tanks use multi-stage countercurrent water supply to reduce wastewater discharge. The desludging system removes sediment from the phosphating bath to extend bath life. Bath parameters are monitored online and alarms on abnormality.

Workpiece conveying and coverage

Battery pack housings and vehicle body parts have many cavities, and pretreatment chemicals must fully enter the inner cavities. Workpiece conveying uses a crane or swing chain that sways or lifts in the tank to help chemicals enter the cavity and release bubbles. Rack design considers stable hanging and smooth drainage. Spray stations use multi-angle nozzles to cover complex surfaces.

Connection with e-coating

After pretreatment, workpieces directly enter the e-coating process, keeping the surface clean. The pretreatment and e-coating cycles match to avoid surface contamination from long waiting. The conveyor connects seamlessly with reduced manual intervention. Pretreatment quality is verified by film weight, water film continuity and visual inspection.
