Earthing switches and controllers are important parts of medium voltage switchgear. Their specifications are relatively concentrated and their assembly actions are highly repetitive, which makes them very suitable for a conveyor-plus-station production method. Taizhou Yufeng Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. planned an earthing switch and controller assembly line for switchgear manufacturers, forming a smooth flow of parts delivery, assembly work and functional testing.

Selecting and arranging the conveyor

Earthing switches and controllers are of moderate weight, so roller conveyors or power-and-free chain conveyors are suitable. We arrange assembly stations on both sides of the line, with station spacing based on the work content and conveyor speed matched to the station cycle. At the front of the line, a parts kitting area distributes parts by station list to reduce walking and searching. At the end of the line, buffer and test areas are set, and assembled products flow automatically into the test stations.

Assembly stations and work standards

The assembly stations are divided into contact assembly, drive mechanism assembly, auxiliary switch and controller installation, wiring and fastening, and adjustment. Each station is equipped with dedicated fixtures and torque tools, and work instructions define the assembly sequence and standards. The contact pressure and open/closed position of the earthing switch are checked after assembly to guarantee mechanical performance. After controller installation, parameter setting and functional verification are performed.

Functional testing and adjustment

The test area verifies the number of mechanical operations, auxiliary switch on/off, control function and insulation. Test data is recorded and bound to the product number, and qualified products enter packing. For batch products, the test station uses quick-change test cables and fixtures to shorten changeover time.

Cycle time and flexibility

In a typical configuration, the earthing switch assembly line can control the cycle at 5 to 8 minutes per unit, and daily output can reach 60 to 100 units depending on the number of stations. For multi-model products, the line reserves station extension positions and fixtures use quick-change structures. If automatic assembly equipment is added later, it can be integrated into the existing conveyor without affecting current production.

Suitable company types

This line suits manufacturers that produce earthing switches, disconnectors, controllers and similar low voltage components in volume. Whether for self-use or external sales, a standardized assembly flow stabilizes quality and shortens delivery time.
